Most mornings, I stick to juice.

It’s a one-part convenience, one-part passion thing 🙂

By the time I’ve fed the children, the dog, the cats, the washing machine and the garden I need the simplest, most efficient and most nutritious breakfast possible.

Usually one juice leads to another as my juicer cranks itself up a notch for the next batch.

But sometimes, a protein kick is in order and as words and images are flying off my computer at 100 knots an hour, the last thing I want to do is gear down and start faffing about with the fridge, crockery and cutlery.

Enter blender, cashews, sea salt, dates and water.

It’s that simple.

Recipe: 

2 handfuls of cashew nuts (best pre-soaked but not necessary)

large pinch of sea-salt (I use 2 pinches as I’m a salt freak)

Cayenne or Cinnamon

1 or 2 medjoul dates

Large cup of water (add more if you prefer it less thick)

Blend ’til completely liquid.

(add agave/maple syrup/honey if you prefer a more indulgently sweet version).
